Sınıflama sistemlerinde “Yaygın Gelişimsel Bozukluklar” ana başlığı altında incelenen tanısal kategorilerin tanımlanması ile ilgili çalışma ve tartışmalar devam etmektedir. DSM-IV ve ICD-10 ile sınıflama sistemine giren Asperger Sendromu ile ilgili tartışmalar da sürmekte olup, yüksek-fonksiyonlu otizm ve başka türlü adlandırılamayan yaygın gelişimsel bozukluk kategorileri ile benzerliği ve farklılıkları araştırılmaktadır. Özellikle 1970’li yıllardan sonra bu çalışmalara nöropsikolojik profili tanımlama ile ilgili araştırmalar eklenmiş, bazı kategoriler için prototipik bir profil olduğu savunulmuştur. Ancak son yıllarda yapılan çalışmalar bu görüşü benimsememektedir. Bir olgu sunumu ile Asperger Sendromu’ndaki nöropsikolojik profil sunulacak, bu profilin bu tanı kategorisini tanımlama ve ayırıcı tanı açısından değeri tartışılacaktır.

Asperger’s Syndrome and WISC-R ProjilesA Case Report During the last decade has seen a considerable increase in discussions on the classification and description of the problem behaviors of children with a Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD). The
overriding focus on the nosologic status of Asperger’s Syndrome and how it can be distinguished  from such related conditions as high-functioning autism and PDD-NOS is an important research field. Studies about cognitive profiles have gained importance since 1970’s and a single characteristic prototypic profile has been described for some categories. But recent studies do not support the validity of this profile in differential diagnosis. In this article the neuropsychologic profile of Asperger’s Syndrome case shall be presented and the validity of it in differential diagnosis shall be discussed.
